Why Tall Guys Have More Sex

Size matters in the bedroom, at least when it comes to the length of your inseam: Taller guys tend to have more sex partners, suggests new research from Chapman University.

In the study of more than 60,000 people, scientists found that men who were shorter than what they deemed “average” (5’8” to 5’10”) reported one to three fewer total partners than guys with a greater stature.

The results didn’t surprise study author David Frederick, Ph.D. “Women consistently report a preference for relatively taller men in survey studies and when looking at online dating profiles,” he says. 

How come? It may be an evolutionary response.

Way back in the day, cave-dwelling ladies may have preferred tall mates, Frederick says. Good height suggested good health, and women thought towering men offered more resources and better protection for their children, he adds.

Today, research shows people also perceive taller men as more dominant, which may be a turn-on for some women.

This is great news if you’re 6’2”, but shorter guys don’t have to despair.

Luckily, height doesn’t trump other traits, says Frederick. “Men and women both report that their top quality in a long-term partner is someone who is genuinely kind and understanding.” And that goes for inside and outside the bedroom.
